My labor charge for tube radios depends on the year it was made, the number of tubes and the difficulty. This my called my "Basic Repair Cost". All the little things that I do during a repair that take up time, are lumped into this cost.
Radios made in the 50's/60's - $15 per tube - $150 - $195
$15 average estimate rate is based on a 5 tube AM table radio.
All other larger 1950/60's AM or AM/FM combinations could be billed at $25 or $35 per tube depending on the difficulty.
Radios made in the 40's - $30 per tube - $360 - $460
Radios made in the 30's - $45 per tube - $540 - $640
Radios made in the 20's - $55 per tube - $660 - $760

Your approval of all repairs is obtained at every step
Generally, the older the radio the more it will cost to repair. especially pre-1935 models.
Radios needing extensive troubleshooting or a lot of wires replaced, will be billed at $45 per hour.

What will I do with your radio?
All the signal and power supply capacitors will be changed. Any wires with crumbling insulation or resistors out of tolerance will be replaced. Tubes tested, a new dial string, new power cord, fuse added and a complete alignment. Then your radio is run continuously for 20 hours to make sure that it will hold up for you.
What if my radio cannot be repaired?
If your radio cannot be repaired, you will only be charged for the parts installed and the return shipping.
Do not plug-in your radio!
If your radio has been sitting in the garage for the past 30 years, you could get a shock and possibly damage the radio.
Note:
The worse thing you can do to any antique tube or transistor radio is to not play it! The radio will not last longer if not used, just the opposite. So play and enjoy your refurbished radio.
